Managing Attorney of Stanton Cronin Law Group, PL
During his legal career, Michael has gained experience in a wide variety of business law and civil litigation, including cases involving business disputes, financial services litigation, workplace disputes, complex commercial litigation and even class action litigation. He has represented individuals as well as businesses of all sizes, from the local “mom and pop” business all the way up to multi-national corporations, in state and federal courts throughout Florida, as well as nationally in arbitrations before the FINRA, NYSE and AAA.
In addition to his courtroom experience, Michael has represented individuals and businesses in commercial transactions, such as lease negotiations, business entity formation, and employment contract review. Notably, Michael gained a wide array of transactional experience working as part of a team that acted as general counsel for a large nationally recognized hospital. Additionally, Michael has been named a Super Lawyers Rising Star in each year from 2010 through 2014.
Over the last several years, Michael has been involved in international litigation in addition to his statewide practice. This experience involved traveling throughout North America and Europe to prepare the case for what was ultimately a three-year trial and multi-year appeal in The Hague, Netherlands. It was a challenging and rewarding professional experience. The time away from home also made him truly appreciate all that his home in Florida has to offer. Following this, Michael wanted to use the experience gained in practicing law nationally and internationally to create his own firm with a focus on clients or client issues closer to home.
Michael Stanton was born on Long Island, New York but moved to the Tampa Bay area while in grade school. He graduated suma cum laude from East Lake High School in Tarpon Springs before attending the University of Florida’s Honors Program. During his time as an undergraduate at the University of Florida, Michael marched in the “Pride of the Sunshine Marching Band” and is to this day an avid college football fan. It is his love of college football that later led him to help found the college football blog, EveryDayShouldBeSaturday.com. While at UF, Michael was named an “Anderson Scholar with Highest Distinction” for academic achievement. After graduating magna cum laude with a degree in History, he attended the University of Florida’s Law School on a full academic scholarship. He graduated with honors and amongst the top of his class. Upon graduation, Michael returned to the Tampa Bay area to be closer to family and to start his legal career. Although his practice has led him to work in many countries around the world, he has always been based in the Tampa Bay area.
In his spare time he enjoys being with his wife, children and his large extended family enjoying many of the things the great State of Florida has to offer. He remains active in the community through such organizations as the Upper Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce, where he serves on the board of directors, The Inspire Foundation and the Tampa Theatre Wine Fest Committee. He also enjoys coaching his sons in youth soccer, going to the beach, boating, fishing and of course watching and cheering for all the area sports teams, especially the Florida Gators.
